Background on Lack of Coordination in Scientific Efforts in Haiti
Haiti, a country with a rich cultural heritage and a history of resilience, has long faced challenges in coordinating its scientific efforts. The lack of coordination stems from various factors, including limited resources, inadequate infrastructure, and a fragmented educational system. This fragmentation has resulted in a disjointed scientific community that struggles to harness its collective potential.
Historically, scientific research in Haiti has been hindered by limited funding opportunities and a lack of institutional support. This has led to a brain drain, with many talented Haitian scientists seeking better opportunities abroad. Consequently, there has been a disconnect between the Haitian scientific diaspora and those who remain in the country, further exacerbating the coordination problem.
